The MPEG-4 xHE-AAC audio bitstream is presented as an HTML5 audio object - which should play back correctly in:

  • Android P or higher browsers
  • iOS 13 or higher browsers

Other combinations of browsers and platforms may work as well, an omission here does not mean it does not work.

xHE-AAC Reference Level

This provides a reference level for harmonizing playback loudness or monitoring level with other content. It is consistent with the AES 71-2018 "Recommended Practice: Loudness Guidelines for Over the Top Television and Online Video Distribution". Note that the actual playback level from an xHE-AAC decoder will depend on the decoder target level selected for the decoder or playback device.

This bitstream contains:

  • Meter Set Tone:
    • 1000 Hz tone -24 dB FS RMS, 10 seconds
  • Reference Level Noise:
    • 500Hz to 2 KHz pink noise -21.4 dbFS RMS (-24 LKFS) 60 seconds
